Wednesday we restarted up with his Music Makers group. He wasn't feeling 100% but hung in there. I'm really glad we found this group. They do four segments - songs with hand gestures and instruments, marching and movement songs, parachute time and a story at the end. After the class Smoodge and I took an impromtu walk in Aliso Canyon across the street from the class. I was in my birkenstocks - very Oregon of me. Everyone else was decked out on mountain bikes with hydration kits etc. That evening I went to my book club - we discussed Shadow of the Wind, which apparently is a best seller worldwide. I thought it was pretty good.
Aliso Canyon
Friday we walked to the church parking lot for a playgroup. People brought their kids, bikes and lunches. It was fun to visit. That evening we met Stan at Aliso beach and watched the sun set.
Saturday we headed out to Huntington beach. The best part of the morning was that I didn't have to declare it was time to clean the house - now that I don't work outside the home I can do it during the week - how liberating! The weather was fantastic as it has been all week - mid to upper 70's! Cole really enjoyed the sand - running it through his fingers and trying to shove it in his mouth - oh well - ruffage! After we went to Ikea and got some house plants. After we got home I did some running around on my own shopping without the baby. It was nice to hop in and out of the car without a big production.
Sunday we all went to church. Stan took Cole home after sacrament and I taught my class. They were a bit more 14 yr oldish and not so stepford this week - which was fine. After church Cole and Stan met me in the foyer and we walked home. I have mixed feelings about sending Cole home mid way through church, but I guess the Lord knows my heart and it would just be too distracting to try to wrestle him while I teach my class since he is too young for the nursery. I want to be sure we are setting good habits early. Tonight we are having the missionaries over for dinner. If the weather stays nice we may post up outside to eat.
